The 2012 Dodge Journey crossover comes into 2012 with a new model grades, new features, and a new value and a new “American Value Package” starting at $18,995. Dodge is proud to say that pricing makes the Journey the most affordable mid-size crossover in America.
The Dodge Journey received a significant overhaul in 2011 with a refreshed design, retuned suspension, and optionally the new Pentastar V-6 engine that delivers a hot 283 horsepower. So for 2012 most of what is new are updates and upgrades to equipment inside as well as new model grades.
For 2012, the Dodge Journey will be available in five models, including the new American Value Package (AVP), SE, SXT, Crew and R/T (late availability). In addition to the new trim levels, leather seating with heated front seats is now value priced on Crew models and black leather with red accent stitching is standard on R/T. There also will be a Rear Seat Video Group available on Crew and R/T models that include a second-row DVD player with 9-inch video screen and six premium speakers.
The American Value Package is the new entry level model. The Dodge Journey AVP comes with the 173hp 2.4-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine paired with an oldish 4-speed automatic transmission. Dodge says the Journey AVP also is also available with seven-passenger seating starting at $19,990, making it the most affordable seven-passenger vehicle in America.
Standard fare includes air conditioning, electronic stability control (ESC), Brake Assist, all-speed traction control, anti-lock brakes (ABS), advanced multistage front airbags, side-curtain airbags, front seat side-mounted airbags, active front head restraints, 4.3-inch Uconnect Touch media center, Keyless Enter-N-Go with push button start, premium soft-touch surfaces, power windows, locks, mirrors, remote keyless entry.
The 2012 Dodge Journey R/T launches later in the year with a more sporting character. It will have the brand’s slick monochromatic exterior, 19-inch aluminum wheels and black leather seating with red accent stitching. The R/T is available with both AWD and seven-passenger seating. The latter includes the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 and six-speed automatic transmission.
New for 2012 is the addition of voice recognition with Bluetooth for models equipped with the Uconnect Touch 8.4-inch media center with navigation. In addition, the navigation system will now offer an “Eco Route” to a destination and can tag songs playing on SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio for later purchase.
Exterior colors for the 2012 model year include Copperhead Pearl Coat, Blue Pearl Coat, Brilliant Red Tri-Coat, Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Storm Gray Pearl Coat, White, Pearl White Tri-Coat and Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat.
